I have to say that Connecting Reality events worked for me.  I attended the first one at El Guapo and landed an Art Director job soon after.  Thank you Rebecca!  This job led to an on camera spot with Trading Spaces. This was a tremendous accomplishment for me as I had been trying to get a designer role on camera.
